activities AND INFORMATION
With so many activities on offer it is no wonder that Mull is popular with individuals, couples and families who choose to come back year after year. Bendoran Lodge is ideally placed and equipped to take full advantage of what the island has to offer. Below is a small selection of our favourites to help you plan your visit.
Often described as a small island in the inner Hebrides. Iona is mainly known for Iona Abbey, but has much more to offer to its visitors. Occupied since the Iron Age, with a rich history it remains a place of peace and tranquility to this day. The short ferry crossing to Iona is a few minutes by car from Bendoran Lodge.
Tobemory is the capital of the island, and is located on the North East Coast. Founded as a fishing port in 1788 it remains a busy town with plenty to do and see. If you are a whisky fan you can visit the Tobermory Distillery. Nearby for food lovers you can sample the Isle of Mull Cheddar. The town itself is a great place to shop for gifts or provisions.
When visiting the Island there is plenty to do outdoors. Close by there are lovely beaches at Uisken and Fionnphort. The adventurous can walk up Ben More, or walk from Carsaig to Carsaig Arches. Charter boats operate from Ulva pier and Fionnphort taking visitors to Staffa.
For those of you into wildlife you will find plenty to see and do. The bay in which Bendoran Lodge is situated is often visited by seals, numerous birds and if you are really lucky an otter. The island is the home to Golden Eagles and White tailed sea eagles
